Religious fasting is a great way to help us lose weight

Religious fasting

Religious fasting is not like regular fasting, because it is all about fasting for a week or a month from a bad activity or an activity which would otherwise prevent us from achieving our goal.

It is fasting but not from food, it is fasting from activities which would stop us or slow us in our progress to reaching our weight loss goal.

For example, many christens do religious fasting to help their spiritual life, they fast from sex, or from watching TV or from doing some kind of activity which would otherwise slow their spiritual lifestyle. By stopping having sex or watching TV for a week or month, they use the time instead for worship and prayer, towards God to help themselves become more purified.

We can do the same thing but only for our weight loss goal, for example, let’s say we are having a very hard time giving up eating ice cream, and we know that if we did give up eating ice cream we would lose weight much faster.

So we decide to stop eating ice cream for one week, or one month and after that time we can go back to eating it, maybe not so much as we did before but because of our determination and the fast we did, our bodies look much better, we got faster weight loss because of not eating ice cream during that time.

It is a sacrifice, we all must do sacrifices every day of our lives, doing things which we don’t really want to do but we know must be done, they might be big or small sacrifices, but they are sacrifices none the less, so we can definitely do a sacrifice for helping our weight loss in the right direction.

Religious fasting can also be fun too, we can try fasting from one activity for a week, then change to fasting from another activity, be creative, or if we want to really go for it, we can fast from one activity then add another activity onto the list and start fasting from them both.

If it is hard to stop smoking, or drinking, or eating unhealthy food, or eating too many snacks, or forgetting to do exercise, there are so many things we can start to fast from on a weekly basis which can help improve our weight loss.

Just remember a fast is there to help you, not hurt you or stop you, fasting is to help you achieve a better lifestyle, a life style which is full of happiness, youthfulness, confidence, and pride of who you are as an individual.
